You inherited beliefs and patterns from your family of origin. About God, yourself, marriage, work, conflict, money, emotions, success, failure, and love. Some of those beliefs and patterns have served you well. Others have sabotaged you.
Most men relate to this inheritance in one of two ways. Some never examine it at all. They simply repeat the patterns they were given without realizing it. Others spend years identifying everything their parents did wrong until their past becomes the primary explanation for their present.
Neither path leads to freedom.
This journey invites you to look at your inheritance with clear eyes and an open heart—to receive what was good with gratitude, confront what was broken with honesty, and bring all of it under the redeeming authority of Christ. The goal is not to spend your life either defending your inheritance or escaping it. It is to receive it so honestly that, by the grace of God, even its wounds become sources of wisdom, compassion, and strength.
Modern therapeutic language tells you to ask:
“What did my parents do to me?”
I want you to ask a different question:
“What has God entrusted to me through this story?”
